Men’s Club Man of the Year 2014

Here's the group that accompanied Ron Laux (center) for his honor as Men's Club Man of the Year in Chicago on Sunday, February 23.

And some more pictures from the event...

See Mike Spanjar’s recent Facebook post about Ron and the honor he received:

The CBINT Men's Club is proud to present Ron Laux as our 2014 Man of the Year. Ron joined us on Sunday, February 23 at the annual FJMC regional award dinner in Chicago to give a brief speech and receive his plaque.

Want to know what makes Ron so deserving of this honor?

Our 2014 Man of the Year is long overdue for this distinguished and well deserved honor. Ron has been a member of Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid since 1983 and joined the Men's Club in 1990. His dedicated service to our country, our club and congregational families over the years runs deep.

Ron lends a hand at many Men's Club-sponsored events such as the annual Steak & Scotch in the Sukkah and Purim Carnival. He is an usher during the High Holidays and a regular attendee of the daily minyan. He provides enthusiastic support whether chopping vegetables for a synagogue meal or helping our board make critical club decisions.

A proud and extraordinarily active veteran, Ron's service to our country dates back to 1965 when he joined the United States Air Force, at first assigned to Sheppard Technical Training Center at Sheppard AFB Texas and, in December 1967, to the 824 Combat Support Group at Kedena AFB, Okinawa.

He has been a Life Member of the Jewish War Veterans since 1965, serving a number of positions over the years including Post Commander, Sr. Vice Commander and Department Commander. Ron's many other affiliations include Life member of the Disabled American Veterans since 1973, Life Member of AMVETS since 2003, Allied Veterans Council since 1980, Veteran's Board of Directors for Milwaukee's War Memorial and too many more to mention in this limited space. He has volunteered at the Milwaukee VA Hospital for the past 25 years and also donates his time to Community Meal Projects for seniors.

That Ron still has time to run a remodeling business is a testament to his indefatigable spirit. We couldn't be more proud to proclaim our dear friend this year's Man of the Year.
