Death & Mourning

Rabbi Alter and Hazzan Stein are readily available to guide members of the community through the experience of a loved one’s death. They help the bereaved understand Jewish tradition’s wise and sacred practices and participate in them with dignity. They have strong relationships with the local Jewish funeral homes and can help congregants navigate the many concerns that follow immediately upon a death.

Please be in touch with Rabbi Alter whenever the need arises by calling the main synagogue line (414-352-7310), and do not hesitate to use the emergency number provided there if necessary.

Once burial is accomplished, the bereaved commence their formal period of mourning, or aveilut. They will find in the CBINT community a sensitive and caring presence during this delicate time, beginning with the Meal of Consolation and Shiva and on through the regular recitation of kaddish. Twice daily minyanim are a comforting fixture for mourners throughout the year and CBINT prides itself on helping congregants honor the yahrzeits of their loved ones.
