Conversion to Judaism

We welcome and celebrate those who choose to become Jewish. Our vision of conversion is a deeply personal homecoming in the embrace of a loving community and a sacred eternal tradition. Conversion entails extensive education and personal exploration, active participation in Jewish holiday and lifecycle events, and, finally, a ritual transition and affirmation. These efforts can begin together with other conversion candidates and students of Judaism in the Jewish Community Center’s (JCC) Introduction to Judaism Course, offered every year.

Rabbi Alter also offers a complementary course; it may make sense to participate in both. Rabbi Alter works with candidates one-on-one to give full attention to the path each is walking from their tradition and home of origin into Judaism, in the context of how it is practiced here at CBINT.
